Contact UsWelcome to Device Finder. These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Device Finder mobile application for iPhone and iPad (the "App") and the devicefinder.app website (the "Website"), including the App's Bluetooth scanning, radar and distance, map, alert, Premium, and related features ("Device Finder," "we," "us," or "our"). By downloading, accessing, purchasing through, or using Device Finder, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use Device Finder.
1Who We Are
Device Finder is developed and operated by Rodney Cyprian.
- Website: devicefinder.app
- Email: [email protected]
References to "Device Finder," "we," "our," or "us" in these Terms refer to the operator identified above.
2Apple Standard EULA
Device Finder is distributed through Apple's App Store. Unless a separate custom end-user license agreement is presented for Device Finder through the App Store, your license to use the App is also subject to Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement ("Apple Standard EULA") and applicable Apple Media Services terms.
These Terms govern Device Finder's services, features, purchases, and other matters between you and us. The Apple Standard EULA governs the license to the App itself where applicable. If these Terms conflict with a mandatory provision of the Apple Standard EULA regarding your license to use the App, the applicable Apple provision will control to the extent of that conflict. Apple is not responsible for operating or supporting Device Finder.
3Eligibility
You may use Device Finder only if you are legally permitted to use the App under the laws applicable to you. If you are under the age at which you can independently agree to these Terms in your country or region, you may use Device Finder only with the permission or involvement of a parent or legal guardian where required by applicable law.
Device Finder is a general-audience application and is not specifically designed or directed to children. Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising a minor's use of Device Finder where required or appropriate.
4What Device Finder Does
Device Finder helps you locate lost Bluetooth devices such as AirPods, earbuds, headphones, Apple Watch, AirTag, speakers, and fitness trackers. Features may include scanning for nearby Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) devices, a radar view and distance score, showing a device's last known location on a map, sound and vibration alerts, background tracking notifications, favorites and custom device names, scan history, sorting and filtering, Premium features, and additional features introduced over time. Features may change as the App develops.
Device Finder does not require an account. Some features may require Bluetooth, Location, or notification permissions, a Premium purchase, or supported Apple hardware and operating-system functionality.
5Bluetooth, Location and Notification Permissions
Device Finder needs Bluetooth to work. Location and notifications are optional and power the map and alerts. You can change any of them in iOS Settings.
Device Finder's core functionality requires Bluetooth permission, which you grant through Apple's iOS permission system. Location Services permission is optional and enables map features, and notification permission is optional and enables alerts, including while the App is in the background. You control these permissions and may change them at any time in iOS Settings; some features will not work without them. How the App handles the related information is described in our Privacy Policy.
6No Guarantee of Accuracy
Distance and location are estimates based on Bluetooth signals, which can be affected by walls, interference, and the device itself. We can't promise the App will always find your device.
Device Finder estimates proximity using Bluetooth signal strength, which can be affected by physical obstacles, interference, other wireless devices, the device's battery and power state, how often it broadcasts, and the capabilities of your iPhone or iPad. The radar, distance score, and last-known location are estimates, not precise measurements.
We do not guarantee that Device Finder will detect every device, identify devices correctly, estimate distance accurately, or help you recover a lost item. A device that is switched off, out of battery, out of range, connected elsewhere, or not broadcasting cannot be detected. Device Finder is not affiliated with the makers of the devices it detects and cannot locate devices through their manufacturers' networks.
7Not a Safety or Emergency Tool
Device Finder is a convenience tool for finding your own Bluetooth devices. It is not designed or intended for emergency, safety, security, medical, or law-enforcement purposes, or for locating people, pets, vehicles, or stolen property. Do not rely on Device Finder in situations where a failure to locate a device could result in harm. If you believe an item has been stolen, contact your local authorities.
8Prohibited Uses
Use Device Finder only to find your own gear. Never use it to track, follow, or monitor other people or their belongings without their consent.
You agree to use Device Finder only to locate devices you own or are authorized to locate. You may not use Device Finder to:
- track, follow, stalk, monitor, or locate another person, or their devices or belongings, without their consent;
- harass, intimidate, or harm anyone, or violate anyone's privacy or other rights;
- break any applicable law, including laws on surveillance, privacy, and wireless communications;
- interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to other people's devices or networks;
- bypass purchase validation or Premium restrictions, or otherwise abuse the App or its services.
10Subscription Billing
Subscriptions are billed and managed entirely through your Apple Account — pricing, renewal, and cancellation all go through Apple.
Subscriptions are purchased through Apple's App Store In-App Purchase system. The price shown to you before purchase is the price applicable to your App Store region, subject to Apple's terms and applicable taxes. Payment is charged to your Apple Account upon confirmation of purchase. Apple manages subscription billing, renewal, payment methods, cancellation, and applicable refunds. Prices may differ between countries and currencies. Where enabled on the App Store, the weekly subscription can be shared with your family through Apple Family Sharing.
11Automatic Renewal
The weekly subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. Deleting the App does not cancel it.
The weekly Premium subscription is an auto-renewable subscription. It renews automatically for another week, and Apple charges your Apple Account, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account subscription settings. Deleting Device Finder does not cancel your subscription.
12Lifetime Premium Access
Lifetime Premium Access is a one-time, non-renewing purchase that unlocks Premium features for as long as Device Finder makes the App available and supports your device, without recurring charges. It is tied to the Apple Account used to buy it and can be restored on your devices signed in to that account using the App's restore option. Lifetime Premium Access is not shared through Apple Family Sharing.
13Changes to Premium
We may change available Premium options, benefits, prices, or functionality in the future, subject to Apple's requirements, applicable law, existing purchases, and any notice or consent requirements that apply. Any price increase requiring subscriber consent will be handled through Apple's applicable subscription process.
14Free Trials and Promotional Offers
A free trial converts to a paid subscription at the end of the trial unless you cancel it through Apple beforehand.
Device Finder may offer free trials, introductory offers, or promotional offers. If an offer is available, its duration, eligibility requirements, renewal price, and other material conditions will be shown before purchase. At the end of a trial or promotional period, the subscription automatically converts to the applicable paid subscription unless cancelled as disclosed through Apple's purchase interface. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription or Lifetime Premium Access.
15Purchases and Refunds
All purchases and refunds go through Apple's App Store — we don't process your payment directly or decide refund requests.
All purchases made in the App are processed by Apple. Refund eligibility and processing are generally governed by Apple's App Store policies, Apple's purchase terms, and applicable consumer-protection law; you can request a refund through Apple. Device Finder does not directly process your payment card. Nothing in these Terms limits any refund or consumer right that cannot legally be waived.
16RevenueCat
Device Finder uses RevenueCat to help manage subscriptions, Premium entitlements, purchase validation, restoration of purchases, and related purchase functionality. RevenueCat is a third-party service — its processing of applicable information is described in our Privacy Policy.
17Third-Party Services
Device Finder relies on third-party services, including Apple (App Store, In-App Purchases, Core Bluetooth, Location Services, and maps), RevenueCat, and Google Firebase Analytics. Your use of third-party services may also be subject to those providers' terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services outside our reasonable control.
18Availability of Features
Device Finder is under active development. We may add, remove, redesign, or improve features, change detection or distance-scoring methods, modify Premium features, or discontinue functionality. We do not guarantee that every feature will remain available indefinitely. Where a change materially affects an active paid subscription or purchase, we will comply with applicable Apple requirements and consumer law.
19Device Requirements
Device Finder requires a compatible iPhone or iPad with Bluetooth and a supported version of iOS or iPadOS. Some features require Location Services, notifications, background app activity, or an internet connection, for example to verify purchases. Detection range and performance depend on your device, the target device, and your surroundings. You are responsible for any charges imposed by your internet or mobile provider.
20Intellectual Property
Device Finder and its associated software, source code, interface, design, graphics, branding, logos, original written content, and proprietary algorithms are owned by or licensed to us and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Except for the limited right to use the App under these Terms and the Apple Standard EULA, no rights in Device Finder's intellectual property are transferred to you.
21Third-Party Trademarks
Device Finder is an independent app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Apple, Fitbit, Beats, Samsung, or any other device manufacturer. AirPods, AirTag, Apple Watch, iPhone, and iPad are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries. Fitbit is a trademark of Fitbit LLC. Other product and company names are trademarks of their respective owners and are used only to describe compatibility.
22License Restrictions
Except where applicable law expressly permits, you may not copy or redistribute the App; sell or sublicense the App; modify the App; reverse engineer the App; attempt to derive source code; bypass security features or purchase validation; obtain unauthorized access to Device Finder, its services, purchase systems, or supporting infrastructure; or use our branding without permission.
23Feedback
If you voluntarily provide ideas, suggestions, bug reports, or feedback about Device Finder, you give us permission to use that feedback to improve, develop, or operate Device Finder without an obligation to compensate you.
24Suspension and Termination
We may restrict access to Device Finder if it's used to break these Terms — for example, to track people or to manipulate purchases.
We may suspend or terminate access to Device Finder's online functionality if we reasonably determine that you materially violated these Terms, used the App to track or harm others, attempted fraud, manipulated purchases, threatened the security of the App, used the service unlawfully, or created material legal or security risk. Where appropriate, we may provide notice or an opportunity to resolve the issue. Termination does not automatically create a right to a refund except where required by applicable law or Apple's policies.
25Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Device Finder is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not warrant that the App will always be available; the App will be error-free; every Bluetooth device will be detected; distance scores or locations will be accurate; a lost device will be found; third-party services will remain available; or every feature will operate on every device. Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or rights that cannot legally be excluded.
26Limitation of Liability
To the extent the law allows, we're not responsible for indirect losses — like a device that couldn't be found. This doesn't override rights the law says we can't limit.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of Device Finder. This may include, where legally permitted: the loss, theft, or damage of any device or item; failure to locate a device; inaccurate distance or location estimates; loss of data; lost profits; or inability to access the App or a third-party service.
Our liability will not be limited where applicable law prohibits such limitation. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for matters that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
27Indemnification
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to be responsible for claims, losses, liabilities, and reasonable costs arising from your unlawful use of Device Finder, your use of Device Finder to track or locate other people or their belongings without consent, or your material violation of these Terms. This section does not apply where prohibited by applicable consumer law.
28Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how information is handled through Device Finder. By using Device Finder, you acknowledge that you have had an opportunity to review our Privacy Policy.
29Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms as Device Finder develops or as legal, technical, business, or regulatory requirements change. The "Last Updated" date at the top will indicate when the Terms were most recently revised. If changes materially affect your rights, we will provide additional notice where required. Your continued use after updated Terms become effective constitutes acceptance where permitted by law. Where affirmative consent is legally required, we will obtain it.
30Governing Law
These Terms are governed by applicable law, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection or other rights that apply in your country or region and cannot legally be waived. Nothing in these Terms removes rights that applicable consumer law does not allow you to waive.
31Disputes
If you have a dispute relating to Device Finder, please contact us via our Contact page first so we can attempt to resolve it informally. Any formal dispute will be handled in accordance with applicable law and any mandatory rights available to you in your jurisdiction.
32Severability
If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect to the extent permitted by law.
33No Waiver
If we do not immediately enforce a provision of these Terms, that does not mean we waive the right to enforce it later.
34Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, the Apple Standard EULA where applicable, applicable App Store purchase terms, and any additional terms clearly presented for a particular feature, constitute the applicable agreement governing your use of Device Finder.
